The Living Lab in the Sky (a pollinator habitat on one of Talley Student Center’s roof sections) hosted 40 NC State University community members on June 22. I dispensed important pollinator information, and explained the development of this amazing garden space. At only 8 months old, we’ve seen many pollinators (some even showing up as we planted the first plants! Seriously….how did they know?!?). The garden is growing really well—a few more tweaks to the irrigation system and it will be perfect. We have a few more plants to add as soon as we get a break from these hot temperatures and we’d like to add some bee hotels. Soon data collection will be under way–we’ll be looking at plant health, vigor and attractiveness. We’ll also be monitoring visiting pollinator species. Huge thanks to Carla Davis in the Sustainability Office for organizing the tour and taking these pictures!
